How much roof space do I need for solar?

The most common panels are approximately 1m wide by 1.65m long with an output of 250w. How much space you need really depends on the size of the system you need.

Can solar panels work at night?

Solar panels do not produce power at night as they require energy from the sun. However, you can use a battery storage solution!

How long will a solar system last?

As long as it is maintained annually and you have good quality products the system should last between 15 and 30 years.

How often should I clean my solar panels?

Panels should be cleaned frequently with a hose and using no chemicals. The cleaner your panels the more power will be generated and cleaning should be part of the annual maintenance program.

If the power goes out will I still have power?

No, if the power is out the grid is down and this will turn your solar system off. This is because the people working on the lines don’t want your solar system pumping power out while they are working. However you can have a battery backup system to keep power on while the grid is out.
